Timothy Leonard
Brooklyn-based cellist Timothy Leonard completed his master's degree in 2018 under the tutelage of Marcy Rosen at the Aaron Copland School of Music. While a there, Tim was recipient of the Artur Balsam Chamber Music Scholarship, won the concerto competition with Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto in A minor, and performed Bernstein's Three Meditations from MASS with the Queens College Orchestra. He has concertized in China, Australia, Italy, and Mexico and has collaborated with members of the Juilliard Quartet, Momenta Quartet, ICE, ACME, MET Orchestra, and Adelaide Symphony. Tim is an active freelancer in New York and New Jersey, performing at venues like BAM, NJPAC, Spectrum, Barclays Center, and Bargemusic. Recently, he appeared with Jon Batiste on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Tim was selected to premiere a new work for cello, soprano, and countertenor at New Music Gathering in Boston; a recording is forthcoming.
