Sophia Sagaradze
Sophia Sagaradze (1997) is a composer and sound artist from Georgia, currently MA candidate in Electronic Composition at the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus, Denmark (RAMA). She holds a BA degree in classical composition from Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Georgia (TSC) and has previously studied, as an exchange student, at the F. Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary.
Sophia is actively involved in experimental electronic music, based on sound spatialisation. She works with interactive installations and the multichannel audio setup. Her master project concerns the manipulation of a single sound source in the composition and implementation of spatial audio into the composition from aesthetical and technical perspectives.
In the beginning of 2021, Sophia collaborated with RADAR, a musical venue, on creating a 16 channel Setup (Audio Canvas) controlling instrument and installation. She is also a consultant on the open call for Site-specific work using Audio Canvas.
She was part of the RAMA Festival in 2021 (Institut for (X), Godsbanen, Aarhus), where, together with Laura Zöschg, she co-authored a 4 channel sound installation (Aloan/ne). Sophia also participated in the Aarhus Soup projects as a musician and technician in April and May 2021.
Sophia is a member of “Shattered Objects”, a duo with Neli Pantsulaia (GE). The duo performed at SKLASH +, an event at Klub Primi, Copenhagen (2020). Sophia has also written compositions for the ensemble KLART (2019).
In 2020, two projects by Sophia have been awarded grants from the Dansk Komponistforening for Kodakultur.
Besides composer activities, since 2017, she has been a member of the Student Union of TSC, and in 2018-2019 has become president of the Student Union. Since 2018, she has been an expert at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, Georgia. She was a member of the organisational committee of the annual RAMA Festival for the year 2020. In October 2020, she was hired by RAMA as a technician and technical performer for the soloist student concerts. Also, she is a member of the task force, working on live streaming of the Academy’s concerts, and she is actively involved in establishing the format and guidelines for online events. Since March 2021, She has been a member of the study plan developing group in TSC (music technology faculty).
