Mathias Skaarup Sørensen

Mathias Skaarup Sørensen (b. 1989) is a conductor and percussionist. He conducts the chamber choir Ensemble Edge and the chamber orchestra Bellbird. Both groups are devoted to new music, new collaborations and new ideas.  Mathias also takes part in freelance projects connected to contemporary music. This includes conducting performances of the chamber operas “River’s Edge” by Tan Tuan Hao in 2016 and “AGONY” by Line Tjørnhøj in 2017.

Mathias is interested in the process in which artistic projects are created from scratch, and he is driven by the joy of being a part of musical groups and communities.  At the moment Mathias is finishing his master’s degree in choral conducting at The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus.
