María Jiménez Pardo

María Jiménez Pardo was born in 1991 in Albacete (Spain). She started her clarinet studies at the age of 7 in the Royal Conservatory of Music in Albacete with José Lozano as main teacher. She continued her Bachelor studies in Valencia with professor Venancio Rius. Currently, she is studying the Soloist Program in Music at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus (Denmark) with teachers Mathias Kjøller and Bue Skov Thomassen.

María has been member of different youth orchestras both Spain and Europe as EUYWO (European Union Youth Wind Orchestra), WYWOP (World Youth Wind Orchestra Project), JOGV (”Generalitat Valenciana” Youth Orchestra). In addition, she has assisted regularly in orchestras Denmark (Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Randers Kammerorkester, Sønderjyllands Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble MidtVest and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra) and Germany (SchleswigHolstein Landes Theater and Symphony Orchestra). She won the soloist competition, together with Iván Gómez Alonso; organized by DJM in 2020 and they will play as a Soloist with Randers Kammerorkester. She has been soloist with different ensembles: Wind Band of the Royal Academy of Music (2018), in the Clarinet Ensemble of the Royal Professional Academy of Music in Albacete and in Albacete Youth Orchestra.

María has attended several Masterclasses with professors Yehuda Gilad, Venancio Rius, Radovan Cavallin, John Kruse, Hedwig Swimbergher, Pedro Franco, among others. With an especial interest for chamber music, María has received lessons from Afiara String Quartet and teachers Martin Qvist and Jens Elvekjær. Right now, she is exploring music for flute and clarinet duo with ”Aulos Duo”.

Regarding the New Music, she is really active player, she has been part of different Contemporary Music Festivals, like Ensems in Valencia (2013) and UNM (Ung Nordisk Musik) in Aarhus (2016). She made the premiere in Denmark of the pieces ”Schizophrenia” by Yann Robin for Saxophone and Clarinet (2016), ”One World above, another below” by Lil Lacy (2019) and ”Five pieces for Flute and Clarinet” by Juhani Nourvala (2020).
