Connie Wei Wan
Wei Wan was born in Jingzhou, Hubei, China. She began violin lesson at the age of seven with Mr. Shenghua Liu. Four years later she won first prize in the 4th Hubei Youth National Violin Competition. In the same year, she was awarded fourth prize in the 5th Chukong Piano Youth National Violin Competition. In 2002, she was accepted into the Middle School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music to study with the distinguished violist Professor Changhai Wang. While studying at the conservatoire she became a member of the Chinese Junior Chamber Orchestra and Chinese Junior Orchestra. In 2003 she was invited to Korea where she made her debut as a chamber musician. She also performed in concerts throughout China to much critical acclaim. As a performer, Wei Wan has performed in many solo and chamber recitals. In 2007 she was one of the two violists in China selected to attend the prestigious Morningside Music Bridge workshop in Calgary, Canada. In 2007, she received a full scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music with Mr. Predrag Katanic. In 2011 She awarded the First Prize for RNCM Viola Prize Competition. In 2012, She did her Postgraduate Diploma of studies at the college where she has made good progress under the tutelage of Mrs. Asdis Valdimarsdottir. She just finished her master studying in Conservatorium van Amsterdam, The Netherlands with the well-known distinguished Professor Nobuko Imai. She has attended Masterclasses and is very keen to continue her music education in different cultural contexts. In 2013 and 2014, she has performed in several cities in the Netherlands with AHK orchestra as the viola principal. And she did her internship with Netherlands philharmonic orchestra and Netherlands chamber orchestra from 2014-2015. Wei Wan is able to play a range of instruments at advanced level. She enjoys performing different repertoires and is very interested in all kinds of music. She considers her strengths to be solo performance although she also enjoys rehearsing with orchestras and ensembles. She is recently working as a managing director and violin/viola tutor in LeVii Academy which is also founded by her.
