Aoi Tomioka
At the age of five, Aoi Tomioka was a precocious violinist learning from Mr. Yutaka Murakami in Japan, and by the age of eight, she became a member of "Liberature" orchestra. After studying at Aarhus Musikskolea in Denmark, she won the talent prize at Ungespiler Klasisk twice (2014 and 2016). At age fifteen she was admitted by Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium (Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus) to study with Professor Mo Yi.
On Queen Margarethe’s 75th Birthday, Aoi gave a solo performance accompanied by ballerinas and has also twice performed at the “Verdens Balletten” ballet festival in Møllerupgods (2015 and 2016). Other performances include recitals with organist Mr. Knud Svendsen, the Vice President of Aarhus Bach Society, as well as seasonal concerts with pianist Ms. Anne-Marie Meineche, with whom Aoi will play chamber music concert in September 2018. Also in September 2018, Ms. Tomioka will perform at Langgaard festival in a chamber music group.
Since summer 2014, Ms. Tomioka has been actively participating in the festival “Danish Strings” every year, taking masterclasses with Professor Mo Yi, Professor Joseph Swensen, Mr. Flemming Andersen, as well as Sir Lars Bjørnkjær who is her current mentor. In August 2018, Aoi was a participant of the Danish Festival “New Music For Strings” in Aarhus and Copenhagen, performing in the New Music for Strings chamber orchestra, led by Eugene Drucker of the Emerson String Quartet.
